GreenMove Consortium Cements Legacy with Pioneering "Sustainability Toolbox," Vowing Action Beyond EU Project Lifecycle

FANO, ITALY – [22.11.2025] – The fourth transnational meeting of the GreenMove project, hosted by the Municipality of Fano from November 19-22, 2025, concluded not as a mere milestone, but as a historic declaration of intent. The consortium of 17 partners from 16 countries unanimously decided to transcend its formal obligations by committing to the creation of a lasting "GreenMove Sustainability Toolbox," a dynamic digital repository designed to empower rural communities across Europe long after the project's funding ends.

From Project Deliverables to a Living Legacy

While the Fano meeting successfully advanced the project's core objectives—hosting workshops on integrated mobility, collecting vital data, and developing the fourth chapter of the Interactive Sustainable Living Guidebook (GISLG) on fundamental rights—the defining outcome was this ambitious collective pledge.

The "GreenMove Sustainability Toolbox" will be a practical, open-access platform aggregating the most effective e-tools, strategic models, and best practices developed not only during GreenMove but also from the partners' vast cumulative experience in previous EU-funded projects. This initiative, championed by the RTIS Network, ensures that proven solutions for sustainable mobility, energy efficiency, and community engagement can be adopted by any municipality without the burden of development costs.

"A project's true success is measured by its longevity," stated a spokesperson for the host Municipality of Fano. "The Toolbox is our promise that the knowledge generated by GreenMove will not gather dust in a final report. It will remain a growing, evolving resource, fueling the green transition in Europe's rural areas for years to come."

Building on a Track Record of Transformation

This decision is the culmination of a proven journey of impact. Throughout the GreenMove project, partners have actively been transforming their local ecosystems:

  • In North Corfu (Greece), the foundation laid by GreenMove directly informed the strategic establishment of a new Small Ports Management Office, a key institution for managing sustainable coastal mobility.
  • In Podstrana (Croatia), the consortium issued a powerful call to the European Commission to designate May 9 as a "European Day of Sustainable Mobility," linking green action directly to European identity.
  • Partners from Malta to Latviahave shared and are implementing actionable plans for on-demand transport, inclusive infrastructure, and community-led green tourism.

The Toolbox will systematize these real-world experiences, offering future adopters not just theory, but tested blueprints for change.

A Unified Consortium for a Sustainable Future

The 17-partner-strong GreenMove network, funded by the CERV-2024-Network of Towns programme, has demonstrated that collaboration is the cornerstone of meaningful innovation. The decision made in Fano underscores a profound commitment to the European values of solidarity, shared responsibility, and territorial cohesion.

By choosing to build this legacy tool together, the consortium ensures that the spirit of GreenMove—a spirit of pragmatic problem-solving and unwavering commitment to rural futures—will continue to guide and inspire communities across the continent.
